As Chief Financial Officer, Holdren is responsible for the accounting, treasury, and investment functions, as well as regulatory reporting. He has been with First Security for 3 years and has been serving as the bank’s Controller. Prior to joining First Security, Holdren spent 7 years in the financial services industry, including 4 years with a regional public accounting firm auditing community banks.
He has a BS in Accounting and Finance from Iowa State University, an MBA from Drake University, and is a CPA. He is currently attending the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.
“Michael’s years of industry experience and education have prepared him for his new responsibilities as Chief Financial Officer. I am confident he will do a terrific job in this new role,” said Herbrechtsmeyer.
Holdren serves as a board member and treasurer of the Charles City Chamber of Commerce and chairs the Chamber’s education sub-committee. Additionally, he is a member of Community Revitalization’s Business Improvement Committee.
He and his wife, Rachel, live in Charles City. They have 2 children, Riley (5) and Merrick (3). His hobbies include running, yardwork, golfing, and spending time with his family. He also enjoys helping at the Anderson Family Farm, a Howard County Century farm where Rachel was raised.
