Iowa Bankers Association recently selected Sarah Murray of First Security Bank & Trust to participate in the IBA Leaders in Advocacy Program. Sarah joined the First Security team in Charles City as AVP/Senior Accountant in 2016 with the position of Cashier added to her responsibilities in 2017.
The Leaders in Advocacy program was established to build an advocacy base of young leaders who are educated on banking industry issues and understand how to effectively communicate with legislators and regulators. Aside from participation in monthly meetings and visits to the Capitol, leaders will work to establish a bank advocacy plan to use at their local bank.
“As part of the program, Sarah will be representing First Security as well as the Iowa Bankers Association at various events during 2019 at the state capitol as well as Washington D.C.,” commented Michael Holdren, CFO at First Security. “This is a tremendous opportunity for Sarah to advocate on behalf of First Security, the Iowa Bankers Association and the banking industry as a whole. We are extremely excited to see her in this leadership role.”
To qualify, applicants must be one of the following: nominated by the bank as an emerging leader, selected by the IBA government relations team as a potential key advocate for the industry, a graduate of the IBA Leadership Institute and/or motivated and driven to advocate for the industry.
First Security Bank & Trust has locations across North Central Iowa and headquarters in Charles City. Member FDIC.
