“When First Security first introduced Video Banking, many customers wanted to know where we were working from. Most did not realize we are from the area, or that we were just working virtually out of the Charles City office,” commented Billi Kraft, Video Banking Supervisor. “One employee joked with customers that his office was inside the box, meaning the Interactive Teller Machine itself. That was the inspiration for Banking Outside the Box.”
So, the Video Bankers put their heads together and thought of ways they could get out of the “box” and be involved in the communities. Volunteering was the first thing that came to mind. Each month, the Video Bankers will work on a volunteer project that is meaningful to them, all in new communities.
Kraft and Sara Titus, Video Banker, kicked things off by spending a morning cleaning up the Charley Western Bike Trail. The two of them gathered two bags of trash in about an hour.
“I grew up near the bike trail and my sister and I would spend a lot of time riding our bikes and walking our dog on it,” commented Titus. “I’m glad we were able to spend some time cleaning it up.”
Late this summer, First Security also installed a bike tune up station. The tune up station is near the pedestrian bridge behind Charles City’s public library and city hall. It includes a bike tire gauge and pump, wrenches, screwdrivers, and every other tool a cyclist would need to tune up a bike.
“I had seen some of these bike tune up stations in other communities and thought it’d be a great benefit to our trail system in Charles City,” commented Kurt Herbrechtsmeyer, President/CEO. “It’s at a convenient location with a high volume of pedestrians and cyclists, and it’s a great way to promote a healthy activity for families in the area.”
The Video Bankers are really looking forward to the months ahead of them and the projects they will be getting involved in.
Stay tuned to hear about their paw-ject for November!
