After 43 years in banking, Vicky Katcher will retire on Monday, July 6th.
Vicky, who has lived near Marble Rock her entire life, graduated from RRMR High School in 1974. One week later, she started working at Robert’s Clothes of Charm in Charles City, where she sold women’s clothing and Estée Lauder. The job was exciting as, at age 18, Vicky had the opportunity to travel for educational seminars about makeup and retail.

First Security Bank & Trust announced the closure of all lobbies to the public on March 18th in response to COVID-19 containment efforts. Drive-up windows will remain open during regular hours at our Charles City and Hampton locations, and video banking is available from 7am – 7pm Monday through Friday, and 7am – 1pm Saturday at our locations in Charles City, Hampton, Manly, Nora Springs, Riceville, Rockford, Rockwell, and Thornton branches.

He joins the bank as a Retail Advisor at the First Security office in Nora Springs. As a Retail Advisor, he will be responsible for a wide range of responsibilities. Primarily, he will handle a variety of customer transactions and questions.
RICEVILLE, Iowa – First Security Bank & Trust recently donated $10,000 to the Riceville First Foundation, a fundraising organization supporting the Riceville Community School District. The donation marks the completion of fundraising for the construction of a high-tech lighted sign on the Riceville school campus.
The First Security Bank & Trust Board of Directors and President/CEO Kurt Herbrechtsmeyer are pleased to announce that Baylee Crow and Kyle Olson have joined the First Security team in Charles City. Baylee joins First Security as a Service Center Specialist, and Kyle has filled the Head Teller position.
As a member of the Service Center team, Baylee will provide customers with a one-stop customer service experience. She will aid in many areas which include providing information about deposit and loan accounts, debit cards, online banking, and safety deposit box opening and access. She will also work on fraud situations and account reconciliation.
Baylee is originally from Sioux City, where she graduated from Sioux City’s East High School. She later attended Southeastern Community College in West Burlington before eventually ending up in Nashua to live closer to her significant other. She joins First Security with years of retail experience and customer service experience. Her most recent job involved phone verifications on behalf of nationwide lienholders and lenders to confirm adequate coverage for vehicles on loan.
In her free time, Baylee enjoys spending time with her family and friends, listening to music, and playing video games. She aspires to be a better cook and spend more time outdoors as she learns more about the surrounding communities.
As Lead Teller, Kyle Olson will be involved in providing customer service and handling a wide range of customer transactions. He’ll also participate in the training of Tellers and serve as an ongoing resource for his coworkers.
Kyle grew up in Humboldt. He graduated from high school there before attending Iowa Central Community College for his AA degree. He then attended Buena Vista University where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in financial decision making.
While attending Buena Vista University, Kyle worked at Kwik Star in Osage. Prior to that, he worked at the Verizon Wireless store in Osage.
Outside of work, Kyle volunteers as a small group leader as well as a high school group leader at Prairie Lakes Church in Osage. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his wife, caring for their pets, watching comic book movies and TV shows, as well as carpentry. During the summers, he joins his father in law in restoring and riding 1970s Honda motorcycles.

Jennifer Lessin, Credit Analyst at First Security Bank, has successfully completed the 2019 Iowa Bankers Association’s Commercial Lending School, held October 14-18 in Ankeny.
First Security would like to thank the Marble Rock community for its patience during the recent closure of the Marble Rock office of First Security Bank & Trust. First Security was forced to close this office on October 1st after heavy rains caused structural damage to portions of the building above the main entrance. Since then, employees have been working to determine what it would take to reopen this facility. The bank has had multiple inspections, including one just this week, and it has been concluded that, with some repairs, First Security will be able to safely reopen the Marble Rock facility by early December.
First Security recently donated $500 toward the fundraising efforts for updating Trailside Park, a park on the south side of Latimer.

Banks are closed on October 14th for Columbus Day, right?
In most cases, yes, but customers of First Security Bank and Trust know that the definition of “bank holiday” is changing. For several holidays, including Columbus Day, Presidents’ Day, Veterans Day, and Christmas Eve, First Security has offered extended service hours when other banks are closed. Columbus Day of this year, which falls on October 14th, is no exception. On this day, First Security will be open from 1pm – 7pm through the use of Video Banking!
