First Security Announces Coates, Menken, and Clark Promotion

Over the last several months, the First Security Bank & Trust Board of Directors and President/CEO Kurt Herbrechtsmeyer have announced the promotions of Kimberley Coates, Katie Menken, and Lyndsay Clark.

Coates, who works at the Nora Springs office, has been promoted to Retail Banking Supervisor. She joined First Security in 2000 with nearly 15 years of banking experience. She started as a Vault Teller in the Nora Springs office. At the time First State Bank and First Security merged to be one bank she became a Retail Advisor. In 2014, she was promoted to Lead Retail Advisor. Now, as Retail Banking Supervisor, she will be responsible for employee training and supervision in addition to assisting customers with a wide variety of transactions and services.

“I’m really looking forward to using my new position at First Security to help employees reach their full potential,” commented Coates.

When not at work, Coates enjoys reading, playing with her dogs, and spending time with her new twin grandbabies. She and her husband also enjoy fishing.

Katie Menken has been promoted to Lead Branch Retail Advisor at the Dumont office. She started her career with First Security back in 2008 as a part-time Branch Office Representative at the Aredale office. As time went on, days were added to her schedule as she began helping at the Dumont office when needed. As in the past, she will continue to provide assistance to customers regarding a wide variety of financial services and transactions. In her new position, though, she will also be responsible for training employees, serving as a resource for her coworkers, and, eventually, handling consumer loan applications. She has also worked as a Quality Control Specialist for several areas of the bank including Certificate of Deposits, Safe Deposit Boxes, Transfers, and IRAs.

“My favorite part about my position at the bank is the opportunity to work face to face with customers and getting to build relationships with them,” commented Menken. “I also enjoy that, in training new employees, I get to know them better, too.”

Menken has also been very involved in the community outside of work. She was a member of the Dumont Community Library Board from 2011 to 2018, serving as Board President for several of those years. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crocheting, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Lyndsay Clark, who works at the Charles City location, has been promoted to Vice President.

Clark started her banking career in Mason City in 2003 before joining First Security in Charles City in 2009. Throughout her years in banking, she’s worked as Receptionist, Teller, Service Manager, Teller Supervisor, Retail Banking Supervisor, and Retail Manager. In her current position, she oversees retail operations and participates in the development and implementation of new products at First Security.

Clark also completed the Iowa Bankers Association Leadership Institute in 2013. She continues to be an active member in the IBA Emerging Leaders Peer Group. Clark also serves on the NIACC Scholarship Fundraising Committee for the Charles City area.

“I feel so lucky to have such a great team to work with every day and that I get to interact with and learn from employees in so many different departments and branches,” commented Clark. “I also enjoy working for a company that truly values people on a personal level and the sense of family we have around our workplace.”

Outside of work, she is very busy with her family’s activities, particularly her boys’ baseball, football, and basketball events. She also loves spending time with her young daughter and taking her shopping.

First Security Bank & Trust has nearly $500 million in assets, with locations across North Central Iowa and headquarters in Charles City. Member FDIC.
