After nearly 28 years in banking, Sherri Ward will retire on Wednesday, July 1st.
Sherri graduated from high school in Greene before moving to Mason City, where she obtained her associate’s degree from NIACC. She then lived on a farm in the Aredale area until 1986, when she moved to Redmond, Washington to work for an international company as an Executive Assistant to the General Sales Manager. In the early ‘90s, she moved back to Iowa and began her career in the finance industry. In 1992, Ward started at First Security Bank in Aredale as a Teller.
Before long, Ward became the Aredale Branch Office Manager. In 2005, she moved to the Charles City office to join the loan department. She worked as a Commercial/Ag Loan Secretary until 2009 when she accepted her current position, Assistant to the President.
“Sherri is such a great person and so professional to work alongside,” said Kurt Herbrechtsmeyer, President/CEO. “She is going to leave behind a lot of friends all throughout the entire bank because of the varied positions she’s held over her career here.”
Ward is most passionate about her family and spending time with her children, their spouses, and her seven grandchildren ranging in age from 5 to 14. She loves spending time on the water, putting together puzzles, playing trivia and card games, as well as cooking and sewing.
Her husband, Steve, is retiring from the Central Springs School District during the same week as Sherri’s retirement. They look forward to moving to their lake home in northern Missouri where they can enjoy more fun on the water and plan more time for their family.
“I’m very happy for Sherri and Steve to be able to spend more time with their family and enjoying lake living,” said Herbrechtsmeyer.
