First Security Board of Directors Announces Hassman Promotion

March 11th, 2021: The First Security Bank & Trust Board of Directors and President/CEO Kurt Herbrechtsmeyer are pleased to announce the recent promotion of Randy Hassman to Chief Operating Officer.

In this role, he’ll provide oversight for many areas of the bank including Compliance, Investment Services, Loan Operations, Trust Services, Information Technology and Facilities Management.

“Randy has had a long banking career, and now he’ll be able to provide the value of his experience as a coach and mentor to some of the future leaders of First Security,” said Herbrechtsmeyer.

Throughout his 39-year banking career, Hassman has focused on the lending side of the field.

“People have known Randy for his value and loyalty to his customers in and around Nora Springs for many years,” added Herbrechtsmeyer. Of his 39 years in banking, Hassman has spent 29 of them at the same bank location in Nora Springs, where he has worked in ag and commercial lending.

For the first 17 years in Nora Springs, Hassman worked for First State Bank, which was a member of First Security’s holding company. In 2009, First State Bank merged with First Security and, soon after, Hassman was promoted and took on the role of Market President in addition to his lending duties for the Nora Springs market territory.

Hassman is a very active community member and has served as Mayor for Nora Springs since January 2018. Additionally, he is a Board Member for the following organizations: the Nora Springs Farm and Fire Department, Floyd County Emergency Management Commission, Floyd County E-911, the Landfill of North Iowa, Floyd County Condemnation, Nora Springs Community Foundation, and Nora Springs Development Group. He is also part of the Board of Directors for the NIACOG Housing Trust.

Outside of work and volunteer activities, Hassman enjoys golfing, bowling, and watching most sports. He enjoys spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren, Aden, Oliver, and Evelyn. In the next year, he looks forward to traveling more, attending his daughter’s wedding, and celebrating his 20th anniversary with his wife, Tracy.

First Security Bank & Trust has locations across North Central Iowa and headquarters in Charles City. Member FDIC.
