First Security Donates to the City of Ionia

First Security Bank recently donated $2,500 toward the construction of a walking path in Ionia’s City Park.

Because Ionia has few sidewalks, a walking trail would provide a safer environment for all to walk or ride bike. Initially, the council planned on an 850-foot-long and 8-foot-wide trail. However, that may be expanded as the city continues to receive grants and donations. Construction began this fall, when dirt was excavated and left to settle for the winter. The goal is for the trail to be completed in the fall of 2019.

“The City Council and the citizens of Ionia are very grateful for the donations and grants that we have received toward the completion of the trail,” said Ionia Councilman, Linus Voves. “We look forward to providing a safe place for children, especially those at the two day care centers in town, to play and ride their bikes. However, we extend a warm welcome to anyone who wants to enjoy our City Park!”
