First Security's Cindy Ohlerking Retiring after 20 Years of Service

Cindy Ohlerking, Trust Administrative Assistant, is set to retire on May 14th after a 20 year career with First Security.

Ohlerking joined the bank as Trust Secretary in April of 2000 after moving to Charles City in January of that year. She has worked with that department for the last 20 years. With so much experience with the Trust Department, Ohlerking has become a very familiar face to many customers over the years.

“Cindy has provided excellent service to our clients,” commented Julie Versluis, VP/Trust Officer. “She has enriched the lives of those she’s served over the last 20 years.”

Not only is Ohlerking knowledgeable about her work and her customers, she is also known for her positive attitude.

“She can always make her coworkers laugh and smile. She is so much fun and I don’t know a single person that won’t miss seeing her every day,” said Arlie Wegner, who works with the HR department at First Security.

“We are going to miss her warm smile and sense of humor,” continued Versluis. “We hope she and her husband will enjoy their retirement and grandchildren.”

Ohlerking’s husband, Patrick, recently retired as Store Director with Hy-Vee. Together they have two children. Their son, Ryan, lives in California with his wife, Stephanie. Their daughter, Jennifer, lives in Indiana with her husband, Nate, and their two children, Olsen and Sophia. The Ohlerkings are looking forward to eventually spending more time together following Cindy’s retirement.

Before retiring, though, Cindy has been kind enough to welcome and guide her replacement, Lora Mills, as she got comfortable with her new position at First Security.

Mills relocated to Charles City from Cedar Falls and joined First Security as Trust Administrative Specialist in February with 18 years of experience in banking, primarily assisting in the Trust and Wealth Management areas. One of Mills’ areas of expertise includes providing a streamlined approach for client services.

“Lora has an excellent skill set. She excels at problem solving and project management,” said Versluis. “Her high regard for details and accuracy is essential to our business and client relationships. We enjoy having her as part of the team.”

Mills has one son who keeps her very busy with his activities, especially during soccer season.

First Security Bank & Trust has locations across North Central Iowa and headquarters in Charles City. Member FDIC and Equal Housing Lender.
