First Security Supports Franklin County Fairgrounds with Capital Campaign

First Security recently announced its plans for supporting the Franklin County fairgrounds and convention center renovation project. First Security will match every dollar up to $25,000 that is raised for the capital campaign between now and July 21st, the last day of the Franklin County Fair.

Donations to the Franklin County Fair Foundation are an investment in the success of the fairgrounds. The Franklin County Fair has been around since 1859 and, over the years, has showcased the pride and hard work of the Franklin County community.

The convention center, which will be the first project to be affected by Capital Campaign, serves as a key stream of revenue for the Franklin County fair. It’s also a premier, affordable venue for the Franklin County area. It’s used for hundreds of weddings, family celebrations, banquets, meetings and music festivals. The building has served the area for over 30 years and is in need of an interior renovation and exterior facelift. The project has an estimated bill of $1.2 million.

“The goal right now is to have a total of $780,000 in funds raised or pledged by July 1st,” said Carol Lowery, Capital Fundraising Campaign Co-Chairman. “If we can do that, we are eligible to receive up to $240,000, or 20% of the project, from an Enhance Iowa grant.”

As of the end of May, the campaign stands at $610,000, meaning the campaign needs $170,000 by the end of June to qualify for the grant. If this goal is achieved, renovation for the convention center can begin this winter.

“We’re excited to be assisting in bringing this project to fruition,” said Ron Raney, Market President at First Security Bank in Hampton. “We’re hoping that our match on every dollar up to $25,000 motivates more people to take part and contribute to the future of Franklin County!

Donations and pledges are being accepted at the Franklin County Convention Center, 1008 Central Ave W, Hampton, IA. Donations can also be submitted via mail to P.O. Box 442 in Hampton.
