First Security was excited to welcome Hampton-Dumont-CAL area educators back for the start of the 2019-2020 school year by serving them breakfast on Thursday, August 22nd. Nearly 200 teachers and staff gathered in the high school commons for breakfast, allowing them to catch up with one another before the start of the new school year.
“First Security has been hosting this breakfast for around 5 years,” said First Security’s Market President, Ron Raney. “It’s always great to see school staff each year as they prepare for another educational adventure with our community’s kids.”
First Security also provided academic planners and other useful supplies to each educator and school staff member in the Hampton-Dumont-CAL school district.
Additionally, First Security provided an update on the improvement in financial literacy through the bank’s sponsorship of courses in this subject area.
Since 2011, First Security has partnered with Everfi to bring hands-on learning into the classroom on subjects like budgeting, spending vs. saving, and the basics of investing. In the 2018-2019 school year alone, Everfi courses sponsored by First Security resulted in a 37% increase in knowledge among elementary-aged students, and an 81% increase among high school learners.
“It’s our responsibility as a community bank to make sure local students are ready for life’s financial challenges, and we take that responsibility seriously,” commented Raney.
