First Security Bank & Trust Board of Directors and President/CEO Kurt Herbrechtsmeyer are pleased to announce the recent promotion of Robert Lines to an Ag/Commercial Lender at the Charles City office.
Robert has been with First Security Bank for the last five and half years starting out as an Information Services Assistant in the IT Department. He held that position for three and half years before moving into the Ag/Commercial Lending Department where he has worked as a Loan Administrative Specialist for the past two years. In his new position as an Ag/Commercial Lender, Robert will be responsible for creating and maintaining a strong loan portfolio while working with local farmers and business owners to help them reach their individual goals and ultimately improve the communities we live in. Lines is no stranger to the farming industry and rural lifestyle. He has farmed and raised cattle just outside of Charles City for his entire life and has no plans of changing that. He understands firsthand the challenges and issues facing farmers and business owners.
While farming, and before starting at First Security Bank, Robert wrote USDA grants for four years and sold farm and commercial real estate for five years. He is a graduate of Charles City High School and has an AA degree from NIACC. He also has a Bachelor's degree in both Finance and Real Estate from the University of Northern Iowa.
Lines is an active member in the community he calls home. He is a member of the Floyd County Cattlemen Board, the Floyd County Farm Bureau Board, and the Charles City Kiwanis. Growing up with cattle has also provided him with the opportunity to be involved with 4-H and FFA activities. Those activities lead to Robert being one of the Floyd County Fair Beef Superintendents. His involvement with all of these groups along with his farming experience fuels his investment in Charles City and the surrounding area.
Another one of Lines' passions is barbeque. He is a certified barbeque judge through the Kansas City Barbeque Society and competes in contests regularly. This summer he participated in the Charles City BBQ Challenge and took home second place in the "People's Choice" category. Ten years ago Robert designed and built his own trailer pulled smoker, "Frank" (short for Frankenstein). As the name implies, the smoker is made from a hodge-podge of pieces including a Dodge Caravan. Robert enjoys barbequing everything from pork, beef, chicken, and turkey to even salmon in the smoker which is fueled by Hickory and Oak trees from his cattle pastures.
When he's not farming or barbequing, Robert enjoys staying up to date on technology and learning how to implement it in everyday life. He can also be found doing metal work or riding ATVs and UTVs.
