Pat Adams was a dedicated employee of First Security Bank & Trust for 46 1/2 years when she passed away in 2013.
Upon her death, she made a generous gift to the Floyd County Community Foundation to fund the Pat Adams Scholarship Fund which she had previously created.
The Fund is awarding a $15,000 scholarship for one year to one student from Charles City High School and can be renewed for three additional years if specified criteria is met, for a total of $60,000. This scholarship was awarded for the first time Wednesday, May 18 at the school's scholarship awards ceremony. This is the first time this scholarship is being awarded and is the largest scholarship that has ever been awarded through the Floyd County Community Foundation.
The qualified student must demonstrate financial need and display high achievement, good citizenship and motivation to succeed. The Trust Committee of First Security Bank & Trust selected the 2016 recipient. Charles City senior, Shae Etherington accepted the largest scholarship awarded Wednesday at the senior awards ceremony.
Presenting this prestigious award was Bill Frye, Trust Officer at First Security and Kaye Englin, President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa.
